A Bhopa girl grows older …

I know Mamtu, a young Bhopa girl, for many years now. Met her mother before she was born and I keep visiting (and photographing) the family every year. Mamtu is growing into a stunning young girl, and looks more and more like her mother. The collection of her photos forms an interesting document in time. What will become of this girl? The profession of her parents (traveling Bhopa musicians, Thar desert, India) is slowly ceasing to exist, being taken over by television and DVD’s. I recorded their music, even filmed her great grandfather (who died a few years ago). Eventually, this will all be combined in a multimedia production and book (any publisher interested?).

To see Mamtu every year between 2003 and 2010, have a look at these 17 photos in an automatic slideshow >>>.

I tried to look at the “automatic slideshow” of Mamtu 2003-2010 and got an “access denied” error. Probably, I am not the only one to experience this. Beautiful photos, beautiful model.
