New website for Duniya Foundation
I designed a simple Squarespace website for Duniya Foundation. The children at our school wear a cheerful red shirt and this color is the leading color in the design. It combines beautifully with black and white photography, a nice contrast with the many distinct Indian colors.
Sentimental Journal #10: General Güemes and the return of the sun.
Sentimental Journal issue 10 is out! The theme is 'Festivity' and the whole magazine is so festive! So colorful! So full of inspiration. Every time a new magazine comes out I think I have my favorite issue, and every time I am outdone. It is a great pleasure to contribute to this beautiful product.
A Statement
Recent developments cause us to want to make a statement about a situation that fills us with horror and makes us sad. Everyone has been following the news in Israel and Palestine and it will leave no one unmoved.
Behind the scenes: designing for a furniture importer
People who know me know that I am anything but trend-sensitive and our own house is a mix of a lot of influences, something that we feel comfortable with and actually reflects who we are very well. Balsamic Roasted Cherry Tomatoes
My absolute favorite time of the year is now, when we still have warm sun, the days are getting shorter, the light is magical and the smell of autumn is there. It has not been a great tomato season here, but we do have many small golden beauties, almost overripe. It’s so easy to roast them with balsamic and garlic and enjoy them with a very simple pasta.
India Smiles: exhibition
I will be taking part in the exhibition India Smiles: ‘From September 9, the photo exhibition INDIA SMILES by Oscar van der Voorn can be seen in the GO Gallery. The exhibition is about the photographer’s love for India, about his encounters and adventures in the country he loves so much and has been traveling for decades.’
One Earth · One Family · One Future
Ik heb wel vaker de neiging te dromen. Heldendromen.
De werkelijkheid blijkt altijd gekker.
En minder heldhaftig.
Gloves in August!
At the end of the day I sometimes write small poems with my camera. You have to put up with more than two hours of mosquito swarms, but I was prepared this time (I wore protective gloves in August! It doesn't get any crazier!).
Lobia masala: black-eyed peas curry
Lobia Masala or Black Eyed Peas Curry is a popular dish in North India (and Pakistan), and very easy to make in a pressure cooker or instant pot (see boxed text below) . It is made in an onion-tomato gravy, with ginger, garlic and a tasty combination of spices.
